Muscular Dystrophy

Muscular dystrophy is a group of inherited diseases that damage and weaken your muscles over time.This damage is due to lack of protein called dystrophin which is necessary for normal muscle function.The absence of this protein can cause problems with walking,swallowing,muscle coordination. Muscular dystrophy can occur at any age,but mostly diagnosed in childhood.young boys are more likely to have this disease than girls.


There is currently no cure for muscular dystrophy but treatments can help manage symptoms and slow progression of disease.Treatment depends on your symptoms. It includes corticosteroid drugs,surgery, physical therapy. Therapy can proven effective in strengthening muscles and maintain your ROM and become independent.
